Jeff Berding Loses Democratic Endorsement
Local 12 has learned Jeff Berding has lost his endorsement from the Democratic Party.
Party Chair Tim Burke had opposed this action, but the votes cast Saturday morning ousted Berding from the party. The vote was 47 to 17, with 7 obstaining.
A motion was also passed that the DNC will be replacing Berding with Roxanne Qualls in their endorsement.
According to other party members, Berding alienated the local DNC by not backing the mayor and other party members on police concessions.
Berding says he's disappointed with the decision, but is not surprised. He says he's being punished for acting in the best interest of the city on a public safety issue.
Hamilton County Democratic Chairman Tim Burke opposed the decision to pull Berding's endorsement, but says the party has to accept the committee's vote, and so does Berding.
